NCAA Championship Preview: Dial & Glantzman Ready For Tests On The National Stage

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (March 7, 2019) – Two members of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy wrestling team, senior Kimo Dial (Poway, Calif.) and junior Joshua Glantzman (Allenwood, N.J.), will be competing at the NCAA Division III National Championship Meet this weekend at The Berglund Center in Roanoke, Va. 

Action gets underway tomorrow, Friday, March 8, at 11 a.m. with the opening-round bouts. Friday morning's session will be all of the main-bracket first- and second-round bouts. The second session, on Friday night beginning at 6 p.m., will be the main-bracket quarterfinals and the wrestlback bracket up to the consolation quarterfinals. 

All wrestlers that make it through Friday night are guaranteed a top-eight finish at nationals and All-American distinction. 

On Saturday morning, March 9, the wrestling begins at 10 a.m., and the session consists of the main-bracket semifinals, and the rest of the wrestlebacks including the seventh, fifth and third place bouts. All of the first-place National Championship bouts will take place in the final session on Saturday night, beginning at 7 p.m.

This will be both Dial's and Glantzman's first trips to the National Championship Meet. Dial placed third in the 133-pound bracket at the NCAA Mideast Regional Meet in late February, while Glantzman came in second in the 184-pound bracket at regionals. 

In his first match, Dial will square off against the #5 seed in the 133-pound bracket, Brice Everson of Loras College, in bout #31 on the day. 

Glantzman's first-round opponent will be the #7 seed in the 184-pound bracket, Devon Pingel of Adrian College, in bout #83.
