KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Sept. 9, 2019) – The Skyline Conference announced the weekly award winners for men's soccer on Monday and USMMA senior goalkeeper Matthew Milner (Mount Airy, Md.) was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week, while sophomore midfielder David Kelly (Lutherville, Md.) landed on the weekly honor roll. The honors came after the Mariners' two games last week – a 3-0 road loss at #14 Ramapo on Wednesday and a 2-1 home win over Ithaca on Sunday.
Milner only saw action on Sunday and put up four big saves to defeat the Bombers for his second victory of the season. His only blemish was an own goal in the second half that deflected in off a Mariner defender after a corner kick. It's his second-straight week being recognized by the Skyline Conference, as he earned an honor roll nod last week.
Kelly scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal on Sunday against Ithaca. He blasted a shot from the top of the box just under the crossbar to make it a 2-0 game in the 23rd minute.

The Mariners hit the pitch again this Wednesday, Sept. 11, for a non-conference matchup against Centenary College in Hackettstown, N.J. Opening whistle is slated for 4 p.m. at the Cyclones' Reeves Field. As of right now, no live links are available for the contest, but if there are any they will be listed on the USMMA Men's Soccer Schedule Page.
