KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Oct. 16, 2018) – On Monday, the NEWMAC Conference announced its weekly award winners for football and USMMA junior Joe Vitelli (Warrington, Pa.) was selected as the league's Offensive Player of the Week, while classmate Gavin Gartner (Cedar Park, Texas) earned Special Teams Player of the Week honors. The accolades come after their performances in the Mariners' 17-14 road win at Springfield this past Saturday, Oct. 13.

Vitelli earns his second-straight weekly honor, as he was the NEWMAC Special Teams Player of the Week just last week. The wide receiver hauled in eight catches for a career-high 128 yards on Saturday in the Mariners' big 17-14 road win at Springfield. It was the junior's fifth 100+ receiving yard game of his career. One of his receptions was good for 54 yards.

Gartner had his second-straight three field goal game, as he came through in the clutch for the Mariners in the victory. The junior converted from 27, 24 and 22 yards, with the 22-yarder early in the fourth quarter proving to be the game-winner. He also averaged 52.6 yards on five kickoffs with a long of 60 yards. The Pride failed to score on any of its drives after Gartner's kickoffs.
