Six Mariners Earn NEWMAC Football All-Academic Honors

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Nov. 15, 2017) – The NEWMAC Conference announced its Football All-Academic Team last week and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy had a total of six student-athletes earn spots on the team. In total, an impressive 87 football student-athletes in the NEWMAC were honored this year. 

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale, achieved second-year academic status at his institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

Meeting the criteria for USMMA were senior William Marino (Mount Kisco, N.Y.), juniors Garrett Irizarry (Blairstown, N.J.) and Ing Hao Veasna (Hampton, N.H.), and sophomores John Coughlan (Massapequa Park, N.Y.), Tyler Reihs (Moorpark, Calif.) and Joe Vitelli (Warrington, Pa.)
