Volleyball Suffers Hardships on the Road in Pair of Tri-Matches

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women’s volleyball squad competed in two tri-matches this weekend. On Friday, the Mariners fell to FDU-Florham and Rutgers-Newark, both by final scores of 3-0, in Newark, N.J. On Saturday, USMMA dropped a pair of matches against Franklin & Marshall College and Muhlenberg College, also both 3-0, in Allentown, Pa. With the defeats, the Mariners dropped to 10-18 on the season.

KINGS POINT, N.Y. – On Saturday afternoon, the United States Merchant Marine Academy dropped a league match to the Catholic University of America, 3-0, on the first day of the second Landmark Conference Round-Robin at Liebertz Gymnasium in Kings Point, N.Y. With the victory, the Cardinals improved to 14-11 overall and 3-1 in conference play. Following the defeat, the Mariners dropped to 10-12 on the season and 0-4 in the Landmark.

KINGS POINT, N.Y. – On Wednesday evening, the United States Merchant Marine Academy women’s volleyball team earned its 10th victory of the season as the Mariners shutdown SUNY Old Westbury, 3-1, at the Liebertz Gymnasium in Kings Point, N.Y. With the win, USMMA improved to 10-11 on the year. Following the defeat, the Panthers dropped to 16-6 overall.
