Kevin Ryan has just finished his 28th season as men's and women's diving coach at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. After the 2003-04 he was named the NCAA Diving Coach of the Year, which he also received in 1987-88, Metropolitan Conference Diving Coach of the Year and the ECAC Diving Coach of the Meet after guiding Joel Meyer to NCAA Diver of the Year honors. He served as a member of the NCAA Diving Selection Committee in 2003 and the NCAA Diving Subcommittee for the past few years.

In 1991 he was honored as KP's Coach of the Year. He's guided KP divers to 25 All-America honors and three NCAA Division III National Champions. Has coached many divers of various age groups who have gone on to dive at numerous colleges - including Yale, Tufts, Stony Brook, Washington University, Rhode Island and Queens College. He has been involved with the Empire State Games for over 20 years - first as a diver, then as the NYC Region coach, and lastly, as State Chairperson coordinating all the diving events at the games in both Syracuse and Buffalo.

He was a member of the St. John's University diving team, where he was Metropolitan Diving Champion as a sophomore on the one-meter board and qualified for Division I Nationals his junior and senior seasons. He graduated from St. John's in 1976 with a B.S. in marketing and in 1980 with an MBA in finance. He has taught at Kings Point as an adjunct professor in both marketing and finance.
